Day 1 - From Singapore to Tokyo to San Francisco

Very exciting! I guess that's all I can say about my feeling back then. America! Wow! A country I've never dreamt of visiting at all. China, Korean, Malaysia, Indonesia etc... Those are the countries that I would visit and have visited. Going to San Francisco is a long tiring trip. 6 - 7 hours of plane to Tokyo, took a detour at Tokyo and travel for another 9 hours all the way to San Francisco. The only entertainment that we had on the plane is the small square screen at the back of the chairs of the passenger in front of me. This small square screen is showing 6 movies which out of these 6 movies, only 1 never watches before. Bourne Supremacy. Very nice show. However, the show is only 1 hour 30 minutes. 9 hours of plane and only 1 hour 30 minutes covered. The rest of the time is being spent sleeping and eating and listening to music. Even the music on the plane repeat itself. So in the end I listen to my own IPOD. Also played GTA on Marcus’s PSP along with Yi Jin. Yi Jin is pro man. Ha ha the vehicle I controlled seems to bang left right up down. Lol

The dreadful 9 hours are finally over. Spent another half an hour trying to exit out of the airport with all the custom check blocking our path to freedom. Finally after the procedure and everything, we are out of the airport!! Coming out of the airport, quite disappointed by the weather. It’s not cold at all. First thing I saw at America are people. Ok that’s lame. Anyway, Firs t thing that caught my eye upon exiting the airport is this long vehicle with more then 2 doors at a side. Yes! It’s a LIMO. Love the design so much. I’m sure you’ll love it too. Anyway, the first thing we did after reaching America is of course going to our Hotel – Argent Hotel. We took two cabs to the hotel since we have 5 people. Marcus and I shared one and Yi Jin, Dinendra and Shou Ming took another. On the way over to the hotel, Marcus was busy snapping the Nikon D70 Camera away. Having 2 shots in 1 second, Marcus finished one memory card at the end of the taxi trip. The scenery on the way was quite beautiful, it looks so different from Singapore. The vehicles, the building, the people and the traffic light and everything that I come across hahaha. Even the taxi is special. There is a camera installed on it. When I bring down the windows, on the highway when the taxi is speeding, the wind is basically just trying to bash me up. So strong that I was so afraid the taxi will just come apart. Thank goodness it didn’t LoL.

Finally after a speeding trip, we have reached the hotel. Even though Shou Ming they all started later then us, they reached 2 seconds earlier then us. Checking into the hotel, Dinendra and I share one room, Shou Ming and Marcus one room and Yi Jin is alone hahahahahahahaha

Immediately after dropping our luggage at the hotel, we waste no time at all and commence our shopping trip. First stop, fisherman’s Seafood. Marcus said his friend recommended this stall and must try their chowder. So after figuring for 5 minutes, we decided to take a train over. Their train are very special. It’s not like out MRT long long train in a station.Instead, it’s like a bus which isn’t that long. Even when the train reach the ending, men are still needed to turn the train around. I think it’s their Cable car.

Walking over to the seas which is near the restaurant that we are looking for, we passed by a what looks like a navy exhibition. There are torpedoes in display, Battleship parked at the side and submarines which have already grow mold. Marcus looks so small size when he stands in front of the battle ship. So don’t even talk about me or any of them, especially Yi Jin :x

As we were happily taking photos away, Yi Jin innocently reminded us that we need to do something to save lives, and that is to eat or else she is going to faint already! LoL So of course to save a lives is to create 7 miracle wonders blah blah… thus we went to eat -_-“

Our first encounter with America food leaves us one impression that Americans loves bread and they like it hard. Hehe that’s the kind of bread we were having at the restaurant. Everyone is biting their teeth away just to try to eat the bread. However, stubborn ol me just hate hard food. So I waited for the Clam Chowder to arrive before I eat it. By dipping the bread into the chowder for a moment, I get very good and soft bread.

Next on menu, the Prawn Spaghetti! The rest of them ordered Fish and Chip and only I ordered Prawn Spaghetti. They have the biggest prawn I’ve ever seen. It taste great and there’s like 6 – 7 of them on my plate. I couldn’t complete the noodle because I guess I’m not THAT hungry :P $12.75.. Heart pain sia..

After a scrumptious meal at Fisherman’s Seafood Restaurant, we headed our way to the street near by to implement our shopping mission!

Mission 1: To visit APPLE showroom!!
If you are an apple fan and I do mean the apple with one bite, you will love the shop till crazy when you enter. Sets of Ipod Video, Nano, Monitor and what have you are being placed on the table in rows and columns on each table. They have a very nice layout too. I love it so much.

Mission 2: To visit San Francisco’s LEVIS store!!
It just looks so different from those in Singapore. Unfortunately, I can only SEE SEE LOOK LOOK, cannot SEE SEE BUY BUY like any of my friends. LoL The LEVIS store consist of three storeys, one for girls one for guys and one for gays and another one for lesbian. Haha No lah. One for female one for male and another for those misc.. none jeans type. As for me.. After walking a few rounds in the store, I went out for a wind. The moment I came out of the store, I heard a very LOUD and nice engine that’s very nearby... looking at the road, I saw my first Lamborghini at San Francisco!

Believe it or not, just by going to this two store has already taken the whole of our afternoon and evening way. America’s shop close early. So after that, we went back to our hotel and get ready to go for dinner. We went to Macdonald for dinner just to compare the taste at Singapore. Not bad I think.. the fish looks abit err.. raw? I’m not sure.. but the taste is very different. On the other hand, when Diendra came back to hotel, he got knocked out and couldn’t be awaken to eat dinner. So in the end, we let him stayed knockout. Coming back to our hotel, we find ways to exploit the internet connection here because to activate internet connection cost about $15 USD. Imagine.. 15 * 3 for three rooms and the answer times 5 days? Hehe Shou Ming will cry man. So of course our ever resourceful guy Marcus Age 21 device a plan. Having only one person connects to the internet, the rest of us will share the internet connection through ad hoc. LUCKY the range is far enough for ad hoc. And as the saying goes, time flies as we see Monday slowly swept pass us. Stay tune for Tuesday entry where the actual JavaONE conference starts.

Photos will be shown in the next post :)
